Batter UP!!

Yesterday my daughter had her
first Softball "Game". EVER.

It was actually just a
"mock scrimmage" against
one of the other teams in her age group.
(7-8yr old)
The girls did very well!
Especially considering that this
is the first year for most,
if not all of them.
The team they played had experienced
players that have played together since T-ball,
and has already competed in an all-day
tournament this year.
Our girls have only had 4 practices so far.
EVER.
My daughter has only had 3,
because she was sick
and missed one practice.
It was fun watching them.
Our girls had NO CLUE what they
were doing, it was like watching
chickens running around with their
heads cut off.

Several of the girls
out in outfield played in the sand
all night.
Numerous times when
they got halfway between bases
they would just stop, and look
around in confusion instead of
continuing on to the next base.
Towards the end of the second
inning, they started to getting better.
I can't wait to see how they do
once they've had a little more
practice.

And once they have an understanding
of the concept of the game.

My daughter was the first in line
to bat, and played 1st base.
I was very proud of her.
She did a GREAT job!

There are 3 teams total for her age group.
2 of the teams are experienced.
All the new, first year girls,
got put on the same team.

The teams were "drafted",
and supposedly the reason all
the new girls got put on the same team
is because the parents of the other teams
said if their daughter wasn't on
"Coach So and So's" team
they would not let their daughters play.

Really?!
I'm hoping the other towns we play
are more fair in their placement
of their girls and do not have
as many "politics" involved
that our little town does...

On another note: I wore a pair
of Capri Jeans to the game
last night that I haven't been
able to wear in years!! Woohoo!!!!
